TOEFL® Grading scale
The TOEFL iBT test is more difficult than previous versions (TOEFL Computer-Based Test with a maximum of 300 points and the TOEFL Paper-Based Test with a maximum of 677 points). The TOEFL iBT Test is no longer adaptive. The move to the iBT format took place in October 2005.
Most undergraduate degrees require TOEFL iBT scores of between 79 to 100, graduate and post graduate programs (Master Degree, MBA, PhD, LLM), on the other hand, generally require at least 100 points. Some degrees require a minimum score in each of the 4 sections (e.g. 22 points per section = minimum of 88 points), others might require a minimum overall score and a minimum score in one of the sections (generally this is in writing).
Due to the high demand and the lack of test capacity, test dates are very quickly fully booked. We would therefore recommend that you register for your selected test date at least 8 -10 weeks in advance.
