Reading & Use of English · approx. 1 hr 30 min

Complex texts, advanced vocabulary and grammar (e.g. multiple choice, gapped text, word formation).

Writing · approx. 1 hr 30 min

Two texts at a high academic level (an essay plus one task, e.g. article, report, review, letter).

Listening · approx. 40 min

Lectures, discussions and interviews in a range of accents; detailed and overall understanding.

Speaking · approx. 16 min

Parts 1–3 with an examiner (often in pairs): interview, long turn, collaborative task and discussion.

Total duration approx. 4 hrs 00 min – short breaks between the parts are possible.

How registration works

3Pay the fee – €312 securely by credit card/bank transfer.

4Receive confirmation – all the details for exam day by email.

5Exam day – arrive in good time with valid ID.

6Results – usually within 10–14 days by email.

ID: passport or identity card required on exam day.

Grading

C2 Proficiency and the Cambridge English Scale

Proficiency is an exam at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Depending on the score achieved on the Cambridge English Scale, a certificate is issued at C2 or C1:

200–230 (Grade A / Grade B / Grade C): certificate at level C2
180–199: certificate at level C1
162–179: no result, no CEFR level, no certificate
Below 162: the score is not reported

FAQ

Is the digital C2 exam equivalent to the paper-based one?

Yes, the content and grading are identical. The only difference is the format (computer). Digital results are usually available more quickly.

How quickly do I get my results?

Usually within 10–14 days. We'll notify you by email as soon as the results are available.

Will C2 Proficiency be recognised by my institution?

C2 Proficiency is recognised worldwide. Check the specific requirements of your target institution (e.g. score bands, validity period).

Do I need preparation courses?
