Test structure & duration

The TOEFL ITP® is taken on computer at our test centre and consists of three sections:

TOEFL ITP® – Scoring & score overview

Each section is scored individually on a scale of 31 to 68. The total score (310–677) is derived from the conversion of the three section scores.

Booking & procedure

  1. Reserve your date online: Select “TOEFL ITP®” in our booking portal.
  2. Specify your preferred date: Note your preferred date in the comment field (Mon – Thu, 09:00 – 16:00) – we usually confirm within 24 hours.
  3. Test day: Please arrive 30 minutes before the start with a valid ID.
  4. Take the exam: Total duration approx. 2 hours, multiple choice on computer.
  5. Results: Unofficial result immediately after the test; official result within a few days.

Important notes

  • ID: A valid passport or national ID card is required on test day.
  • Punctuality: Please arrive 30 minutes before the exam start time.
  • Check recognition: The TOEFL ITP® is not universally accepted as equivalent to the TOEFL iBT®. Please verify this with your target institution in advance.
  • No Speaking/Writing: The TOEFL ITP® tests only Listening, Structure and Reading (multiple choice only). For a test including Speaking and Writing, we recommend the TOEFL iBT®.
  • Rescheduling/cancellation: ELOQUIA policies apply; observe deadlines and fees.

FAQ

What is the difference between TOEFL ITP® and TOEFL iBT®?
The TOEFL ITP® tests only Listening, Structure/Grammar and Reading (multiple choice only). The TOEFL iBT® also tests Speaking and Writing and is more widely recognised. The ITP® is taken on site at Eloquia; the iBT® is booked via the ETS website.
Is the TOEFL ITP® accepted by my university?
This depends on the individual institution. Many universities and organisations accept the TOEFL ITP®, but not all. Please check directly with your target institution in advance.
How quickly will I get my results?
An unofficial result is available immediately after the test. Official results follow within a few days.
How long are my TOEFL ITP® results valid?
Results are generally valid for 2 years from the test date. Please check the specific requirements of your target institution.
What ID do I need on test day?
A valid passport or national ID card is required.
When do tests take place?
We offer flexible dates Monday to Thursday, 09:00 – 16:00. Simply note your preferred date in the comment field when booking – we usually confirm within 24 hours.
