Three sections in just under two hours
Since September 2023 the GRE General Test has been considerably shorter: about 1 hour 58 minutes, with no unscored research section and no break. Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning are each scored 130–170 (total 260–340), Analytical Writing 0–6.
- Analytical Writing – 1 task “Analyze an Issue”, 30 min (score 0–6)
- Verbal Reasoning – 27 questions in 2 sections, 41 min (reading comprehension, vocabulary, argumentation)
- Quantitative Reasoning – 27 questions in 2 sections, 47 min (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis)
